1st Inter-Trust Chess Championships

26th February 2005

The British Chess Federation are pleased to announce the results of

The 1st Girls' Day School Trust Inter-Trust Chess Championships.

As an ex-GDST pupil myself (Portsmouth High School), I know that the GDST is always interested in interaction and competition between the Trust schools, but this was the 1st annual Trust chess tournament. I was thrilled that Kensington Preparatory School wanted to help this exciting new initiative in its 1st year. I have held chess championships at the school before and know that their facilities are excellent. I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs. Lynch for allowing the school to host this fabulous new event.

I would also like to thank Grandmaster Chris Ward, Women's Grandmaster Susan Lalic, Natasha Richardson and Anna Smith for their invaluable help on the day.

The day itself was a great success. 61 pupils from 12 schools competed this year. I hope that next year we will see all 25 Trust schools competing for the age group and school trophies. Below are the comprehensive section results, with individual school results at the foot of the page. Tie-breaks were settled on the basis of sum of opponents' scores.
