(19th March) The 2nd All England Eastern regional championships took place in a fantastic new venue in Nottingham. The standard of play was extremely high and each section was very fiercely fought.

However, I was surprised and disappointed by the reduced number of competitors, which was partly due to lack of support by local players and coaches. If girls' chess is to continue to improve, support is needed for these regional and national events.

I would like to thank Mrs. Lakhani for all her help with the organisation of this championship. Please click on the icon for the full results.
